The volunteer web manager will oversee the 2010 conference website. This person should keep a focus on the usability and accessibility of the site and gather feedback from stakeholders. The Web Manager will need to spend 10-15 hours per week on the conference website and be able to respond quickly to client updates, bug fixes, and other related time-expedient requests.
Duties include:
- Managing communication with the 2010 conference committee, ensuring that deadlines are met.
- Working with UPA approved development vendors to implement site features and content.
- Coordinating and delegating tasks to volunteers and web usability analysts.
- Driving web strategy and promotions through the conference website.
- Develop use cases for target website users, focusing on usable navigation and content.
- Updating Dreamweaver templates and site text as needed.
Requirements:
- Needs to be flexible and able to deal with ambiguity.
- Be able to respond to requests within 24 hours on most occasions
- Must have attended at least one UPA conference (or is planning to attend the 2009 conference).
- Familiarity with Dreamweaver, HTML/CSS, and accessibility standards and best practices for writing on the web.

UPA - Web Usability Analyst
 

The Web Usability Analyst is a volunteer position related to the 2010 UPA Conference, assisting with the implementation of the conference website. The Usability Analyst should be able to think critically about the target users of the site and their typical tasks, spending 5-7 hours per week on their efforts.

Duties include:
- Update the 2010 Conference website with content updates
- Employ content management best practices for proper voice and tone to copy
- Manage any needed usability testing, from online surveys to interviews.
- Check templates for usability compliance.

Requirements:
- Must have attended at least one UPA conference (or is planning to attend the 2009 conference).
- Familiarity with Dreamweaver, HTML/CSS, accessibility standards, and best practices for writing on the web.
