PhD Student- Exploring the demographic, cultural, social, and psychological factors of gaming in mobility (m/f/d)

YOUR TEAM
The purpose of our PhD program is to promote innovative topics that are relevant to CARIAD. We cooperate with top universities and bring new research projects to life. Our PhD candidates get the opportunity to develop and implement innovative ideas in their projects for CARIAD and the respective scientific field. The PhD projects are accompanied by a supervisor and a dedicated CARIAD mentor. Essential trainings are provided for the PhD candidates to complete the PhD program.
For the department Innovations & Holistic Intelligent Cockpit and Body, we are looking for a PhD student for the project “Exploring the demographic, cultural, social, and psychological factors of gaming in mobility”. The department works on innovating experiences for mobility. By considering the user, mobility and technology we aim to shape a holistic mobility experience. Our multi-disciplinary team consists of 20 software and system engineers working together with UX/UI concept/design specialists. Two PhD candidates already are an essential part of our team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Explore the demographic, sociocultural and psychological factors of gaming in mobility
- Conduct a systematic literature review on the intersection on gaming and mobility
- Design and execute a cross-sectional study of gaming and mobility behavior, preferences, uses and user characteristics
- Conduct data analysis on correlations between mobility-, gaming-, culture- and socio-demographic factors
- Develop a future agenda and identify research gaps
- Derive design knowledge by conducting qualitative experiments and design sprints
- Develop exemplary use cases and evaluate prototype concepts
WHO YOU ARE
- Completion of Master's degree in: social sciences, computer science, psychology, human factors or equivalent field
- Experience in drafting, conducting and analyzing as well as applying quantitative (statistical software ie. SPSS, R, etc...) and qualitative methods
- Familiarity with UI/UX in technical development and workflows
- European driving license class B
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Fluent in English. German is a plus

- You get a fixed annual salary of (based on 13 months):
- Year 1: 42.380EUR (brutto)
- Year 2: 47.086 EUR (brutto)
- Year 3: 51.805 EUR (brutto)
- Important: The PhD admission requirements are set by the university and candidates have to fulfill these requirements before starting their projects. Candidates are responsible for finding a professor for supervision before joining Cariad. A written and signed confirmation by the designated supervisor is required before onboarding (not necessary for application).
