World Usability Day Flensburg
The 20th World Usability Day is on November 14, 2024 at numerous locations around the World. The purpose of the event is to connect the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and the User Experience (UX) community and everyone who believes that great design is inclusive and usable by all.
We are excited to announce that World Usability Day will take place again this year on the second Thursday of November on our campus in Flensburg. The Usability Lab of the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences is honoured to host this significant event.
During the event, students will present the results from our Usability Hackathon, where they got the chance to learn from professionals while tackling real-life usability challenges from industry and organisations from the surrounding area.
The Usability Hackathon is co-organised with the Interreg project ARTEMIS promotes collaboration between universities and SMEs. In addition the World Usability Day event is supported by CIVU, Center for Interaction, Visualisation and Usability and by The Alumni Network.

About the Usability Hackathon 8.-10.11.2024
A hackathon is a collaborative workshop where new ideas are developed, problems are solved, or creative approaches are tried out. A Usability Hackathon concentrates on challenges where user understanding and research come first when developing new products and services.
Calling for future pioneers looking to design for a better world and leave a mark on their local community.
We have collected a range of usability challenges from organisations and are looking to better our community by organising a hackathon on 8.-10.11.2024. Students can choose their preferred challenge and sign up for the hackathon weekend. During the weekend there will be professional speakers on various topics and mentors that will be supporting teams with checkpoints, so no specific background knowledge is required. On the contrary, multidisciplinary team structures are encouraged. All participants will be provided with workshop materials, food and drinks during the weekend and there is a possibility to work around the clock if you wish.
On World Usability Day 14.11.2024, teams will have the chance to present their solution ideas back to the organisations and push for better user experiences around us. Here, students will also be rewarded with a certificate of participation.
