We are excited to announce that World Usability Day will take place this year on the second Thursday of November at lisezwei in Flensburg. The Usability Lab of the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences is honoured to host this significant event.
Again, the World Usability Day will act as a kick-off for our Usability Hackathon that will continue through the weekend.

About the Usability Hackathon 12.-14.11.2026
A hackathon is a collaborative workshop where new ideas are developed, problems are solved, or creative approaches are tried out. A Usability hackathon concentrates on challenges where user research and user needs come first when developing new products and services.
Students as future pioneers
"Are you a student at FUAS and would like to learn teamwork in a fun and innovative way? Do you have creative ideas and would like to learn how to test and build them together with others? Are you interested in lean and easy prototyping methods or collaborative project management for solving problems? These are all great skills for the future, and a hackathon offers a fun place to learn and test these out. You don’t need any coding skills, since our hackathon is all about research, ideations, prototyping, testing and re-iteration from a user-centred perspective."
The challenges we offer actually come from industry and companies, so you get to work on real problems, get a feeling for work-life and network with these organisations.
Usability Challenges
We have collected a range of usability challenges and this year we have a special theme around the innovations in maritime and renewables field, because this year’s WUD theme is Designing a Sustainable Future and Ethical AI. Here's a sneak preview to the challenge-givers:

Students have 48 hours to work on solving the challenge of their choice in teams. On Saturday, 14th November 2026, they will have the chance to present the solution ideas back to the organisation or company.
